Birth

Mabel Alberta Pyke was born March 24, 1911 at 8 Dublin Street in Toronto. She was the fourth of nine children born to Albert Pike and Winnifred Munro.^{[1][2][3][4][5]}

Family

On September 3, 1932, Mabel married Albert Kevin Gallant.^[6] Albert worked as a mechanic. They had four children, all born in Toronto. Sadly, Albert passed away at 31, on February 4, 1939.^[7]

At some point, Mabel remarried, to Walter Hildrith. She passed away in the 1990s in Toronto.

Research Notes

Mabel was listed as a "Pyke" at birth and on most records identified at this time, including immediate family members' accounts. Her father Albert, on the other hand, was born a "Pike" in Newfoundland but began to be known as a "Pyke" in records generally following his arrival in Nova Scotia and continuing after his move to Ontario.
