Family Finder ancestor locations and migrations

Here is a map of places where my 3x great-grandparents, 2x great-grandparents and great-grandparents lived. Numbers on the markers correspond with Wikitree profiles.

DNA

These ancestors have contributed DNA that appears much closer than it actually is:

Endogamous populations:
  • New Netherland
  • Cedar Creek, Henrico and South River Quakers

Confirmed DNA relationships

Confident DNA ancestors

Undiscovered connection

These are ancestors that are confirmed by DNA but my direct connection has not been found yet:

  • Hans Michael Henninger - Triangulation group of at least 7 people so far. At this time the connection appears to be through the Fulbrights.

Spaghetti

Chromosome 17, from about 9,046,308 to 31485567 is chock full of maternal cousins with multiple shared ancestors, including a Franklin bunch of some sort, the Perkins, Kendricks, Mitchells, Cheathams, and the Welsh of Virginia and Pennsylvania (Davis, Lewis, Owen, etc). A cousin with a closer match is needed.

mtDNA

Agnes Butcher is the furthest mtDNA ancestor of certainty. While H3 is my current haplogroup I'm actually H3-G14900A, a predictive new sub branch. Within my predictive new sub branch, I have a one step match that also descends from Agnes and a 0 step match with someone whose ancestors have lived in England for several generations.

Robert Butcher, father of Agnes, has disputed ancestry.

Oddly, I have an exact mtDNA match with Ashley Judd.

Hi Carrie,

I was wondering if perhaps you would be interested to work on the Portal World-The Netherlands with Melissa and Bill and hopefully more members ? I was thinking maybe we can make it a sub Project of the Dutch Roots Project, where you all can add or work on more specific things related to the Netherlands you would like to see added there or work on.

If you are interested just add your name to the list and let me know, or you can of course contact Melissa or Bill directly.

Greets from the Netherlands,

Bea :)

Carrie, I note your listing of John Bowne's origins in York, England. I have seen those references as well in early histories of Monmouth County, NJ. There is an alternative origin of the family at Lime Tree Farm, Matlock, Derbyshire. Have you seen those references and how do we square this? My great grandfather was Charles Bowne, born in Middletown on the family farm. He took the name Bond, his sister's married name, upon joining her family as a very young man in the nearby town of Rumson.

Thank you Carrie for your post of Peter Scull, born in colonial New York but who came to NJ. I have traced my Scull line to the same place in NJ back to the late 1700's and have been inspired by your post to get my DNA on wikitree. That would be a great connection to make!
