Notes from FAG

Nathan (Jr.) Qualls
Sex: M
Birth: ABT 1819 in TN
Death: 1891 in Boone Co., AR
Burial: Hilltop Cem., Boone Co., AR
Reference Number: dfw36771
Note:
The last record in Meigs Co., TN we have for Nathan Jr. was in 1847 when he was assessed for poll taxes in Dist. 2, along with his father Nathan Sr. He and Malinda moved to AR in 1848. He was probably traveling with his brother Russell to Johnson Co. on the AR River. Nathan Junior moved on North and by 1850 had settled in Carroll (now Boone) Co., Osage township. Other Qualls relatives settled nearby in the Osage Creek valley and some of them settled along the Kings River in Madison and Carroll counties. Malinda died before 1860. Nathan Jr. married his second wife Nancy after Malinda's death. Nancy's maiden name is unknown. Nathan and Nancy's sons were named: John, Nathan, and James, the same names Russell had given his sons. Nathan Jr. and Nancy are bur. at the Hilltop cemetery in Boone Co., AR.
After Nathan's death in 1891 his children inherited his farm. They sold the farm in 1892 to J.E. Sims. The warranty Deed record of that sale is in the Boone Co. court house in Harrison, AR. The date of sale was 15 October 1892. The record is in Deed Book N-166. The deed lists all of the children by their married names. :This information was extracted from Grace Curtis' book "Qualls Cousins".

more FAG notes

I was just reading your work on Nathan Qualls, Jr. He should be the grandson of James John Qualls (BORN 1759 IN VA. AND DIED 1838 IN TODD KY.) and his wife ( THEY WERE MARRIED IN 1791 IN VA.) Elizabeth Pelfrey (BORN 1767 IN VA. AND DIED 1 MAY 1848 IN WARREN CO. TN.) who left Henry Co., VA about 1800 with James Pelfrey (BORN 1762 IN HENRY CO. VA.) and Wife Polly Turner, Thomas Pelfrey (BORN 1778 IN HENRY CO. VA.) and wife Priscilla Pricey Pelfrey. BORN 1784 IN MONROE CO. TN.) Also going to Roane County was Sarah Pelfrey with husband, Alexander Hannah.
Nathan Pelfrey b. in 1820 m. Elizabeth Ford in Meigs Co. Tn. on 11 Jul 1841. They migrated to AR after 1850 first to AR and then MO. Their son, Jackson Pelfrey (unmarried) kept coming back to Boone Co., Ar and d. there Apr 15 1930. He should be buried somewhere in the county.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Nathaniel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Nathaniel:
