John Quattlebaum 1774 - 1853

Birth: Born on his father's (Johannes) plantation in what was then Saxe Gotha Township, Orangeburg Precinct later called Orangeburg District-Lexington County and eventually called Lexington District or Lexington County.

Military Service: War of 1812. He appears on the muster roll of SC Militia. 30 Sep - 27 Oct 1814

Will: John signed a will on 17 July 1851 with a codicil added on 27 May 1852. [1] In the will he indicated that he was blind and signed with his mark instead of a signature. He named his nine children and each was to receive a one-ninth share of his estate. Gifts of cash or land given to a few of them prior to his death were to reduce that share of the Estate. His son Paul was nominated as Executor and also as trustee for the share of Mary Howard, daughter of John. Son William was already dead so his share was to be divided equally among his children. The codicil left the original will intact but added that sons Paul and Walter had already received land and John had received cash, so their share was to be reduced.
