Cyrus was born in 1822 in Wilkes County, North Carolina, United States.

Cyrus was in a military record on 24 December 1863 in Wilkes, North Carolina, United States. They were in the Fifty-eighth Infantry.[1] The 58th was organized in Mitchell County, North Carolina in July 1862. The 58th fought in the campaigns of the Army of Tennessee from Chicamunga to Atlanta, guarded prisoners at Columbia TN, and later returned to North Carolina and fought at Bentonville. The unit surrendered on April 26, 1865.

Cyrus died of gastritis on 8 June 1864 and was buried in North Alton Confederate Cemetery, Illinois, United States.[2][3]
