Biography

He was born in St. Anicet, P.Q., on March 10, 1836, son of Amab and Jennie Perica Quenell. (the 2nd of 12 Children). The family came to the U. S. when he was three, along with the Peter LaShomb family, on sleds because it was winter. They cleared the wilderness and built log cabins, living neighbors to each other as they had in Canada.

He marries his neighbor’s daughter, Adeline LaShomb, on 12/27/1859. Ten children were born to them. She died on 4/22/1919.

He became a sawyer working in saw mills at Brasher Center and Helena several years.

He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank J. Fregoe, in Massena.

Surviving were four daughters, Mrs. Eli Fournier, of Potsdam; Mrs. Nelson Guyette, of Brasher Flats; Mrs. Anna Carvel, and Mrs. Frego, of Massena; four sons, Moses, of Brasher Falls; Michael and Henry, of Massena; and David, of Helena; three sisters, Mrs. Michael Mousaw, of Bellingham, WA; Mrs. Alice Crapser, of Nashua, IA; and Mrs. Louis Lashomb, of Parishville; and two brothers, Julius, of Lawrenceville; and Justin, of Massena.
