Mary Quimby was born circa 1745 to Eleazar Quimby (b. 1719) and Anne Lassiter (b. 1722) , in Bertie County, Province of North Carolina. About 1760, Mary married Isaac Sowell, also of North Carolina, and son of of Obediah Sowell (1717-1802) and Mary Raynor (1720-1738). They had at least nine children: John, Margaret, Ann, Dempsey, Isaac, Winniford, William, Asa and Jesse. She passed away in 1810.
