This person is an ancestor of President John Quincy Adams, 6th US President
John Quincy was born July 21, 1689 at Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay. He graduated from Harvard in 1708. John Quincy married October 6, 1715 at Hingham, MA to Elizabeth Norton, daughter of the Rev. John and Mary (Mason) Norton of Hingham.[1]
"John Quincy was a Colonel in the Suffolk Militia, on the Governor's Council, Speaker of the House, Guardian of the Ponkapoag Indians, member of the Executive Council for many years, a leader in Town affairs. In recognition of his public service, when the North Precinct of Braintree, in which he lived, became a Town in 1792, it was named "Quincy" in his honor. Also named for him was his great-grandson who was born while he lay on his death bed, John Quincy Adams."[2]
John Quincy died July 13, 1767 at Braintree (Quincy) and was buried in Hancock Cemetery, Quincy, Massachusetts.
John Quincy's granddaughter Abigail Smith married the second U.S. president, John Adams.
