Biography

Edmund Quincy II, son of Edmund Quincy I and his wife Judith Pares Quincy, was baptized March 15, 1627/28 at Apchurch, County Northampton, England.[1]

Edmund Quincy II emigrated to Massachusetts at an early age with his parents. He married July 26, 1648 to Joanna Hoar, daughter of Charles and Joanna (Hincksman) Hoar. She died May 16, 1680 and Edmund married 2nd December 8, 1680 to Elizabeth (Gookin) Eliot, widow of John Eliot.[2]

Edmund Quincy became a Justice of the Peace and was known as Colonel Quincy.

Colonel Edmund Quincy II (1628-1696) and his first wife Joanna had twelve children together including Daniel Quincy, the great-grandfather of Abigail Adams, wife of second U.S. President John Adams.[3]

With his second wife, Elizabeth Gookin, Edmund produced three more children. Among them was the only son to survive Col. Edmund: the Honorable Judge Edmund Quincy III, who would become grandfather to the wife of John Hancock.[4]

Edmund Quincy died January 7, 1697/98 and was buried in Hancock Cemetery, Quincy, Massachusetts.[5]
