Biography
Gideon was born in 1820. He was the son of Charles J Quinn and Rebecca (Donahugh) Quinn. He passed away in 1891.
I believe his mother's maiden name is Nicholson, not Donahugh. I can't find supporting documentation for either one; it is listed both ways on Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org. On Findagrave (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/167803890) she is listed as the daughter of David Nicholson and Rhoda Whitehead Nicholson.
Earned a medical degree from Atlanta Medical College, subsequently practicing in Warren County, Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana, then to Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia. Served as a surgeon in the Confederate Army, then returned to Brooks County, Georgia in 1867, where he purchased a plantation in the Hickory Head District.[1]
