Biography

Gordon James Quinn is the son of Henry Edgar Quinn (Oct. 26, 1878 AL - Feb. 08, 1971 AL) and Sara Alice Black Quinn (Jan. 26, 1883 GA - Sept. 07, 1971 AL). He was the husband of Ollie Mae Shirley Quinn.

Gordon was born in 1916. He was the son of Henry Quinn and Sarah Black. He passed away in 2004.

Quinn, Gordon James

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Rainbow Memorial Park for Gordon James Quinn, 88, Attalla, who died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004. The Revs. Dennis Johnson and Larry Nunn will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home will direct.

Mr. Quinn was a lifelong resident of Etowah County and worked for Republic Steel for 38 years. He was a veteran of World War II and received two Silver Stars and one Bronze Star while serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mae Quinn.

He is survived by his son, Lamar Quinn and wife, Sheila, Attalla; daughter, Amelia King and husband, Greg, Huntsville; brother, Bill Quinn and wife, Jane, Attalla; and granddaughters, Emily Quinn and Melissa King. He is also survived by a host of friends and caregivers at McGuffey's Health Care.

Pallbearers are John Colvin, Gary Wayne Shirley, Jason Shirley, Charles Dollar, Tommy Whitt, Jimmy Simmons, Harold Simmons and Max Brannon.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
