On 1/19/1942, John enlisted in the Navy, and was assigned military serial number 602-10-80. Through this number his service and ship assignment history was compiled via US Navy Muster Rolls. [4, 5, 6, 7, 8]

He served on three (3) ships in the South Pacific:

John was discharged from the Navy at the end of hostilities on 9/22/1945. [8]

He returned to Baltimore City, where he married Adelaide A. Howard sometime around 1946 or 1947.

They had two (2) daughters: Carol A. Quinn (born about 1947), and Mary Kathleen Quinn (born: 6/11/1951). They resided in the Halethorpe area of Baltimore County, Maryland. [2, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14]
