I'm passionate about genealogy and I've been a family researcher since the late 60's. I am also very careful about sourcing my tree, almost to the point of being obsessive. It's not just about seeing how many people you can copy from another tree (I call it "name harvesting"), but more about the integrity of your tree. If you do not live in New York state, but that is where the majority of your ancestors lived, I can help you find relevant sources to explore.
