DEATH OF AN OLD PIONEER.
On Monday last the death occurred at his residence, McDonald's Creek, of Mr. James Ritchie, aged 78 years and 8 months. Up to a few weeks ago Mr. Ritchie was in good health, but recently met with an accident, being run over by a dray laden with wood. This injured his leg, but, apparently, did no other hurt. On Sunday last he was seized with cramps, and medical attendance was sought. The doctor saw him on Sunday night and again on Monday, but he died soon after the doctor had attended him on Monday.
Mr. Ritchie was a very old resident of McDonald's Creek, and was highly respected by all who know him. The deceased's wife predeceased him about 14 years. His wife was a Miss Comer, of M'Donald's Creek. He leaves four daughters, all of whom are single, they being Jane and Emily, of McDonald's Creek, and Mary and Elizabeth, of Sydney. All were present at the funeral. The deceased was a native of Paisley, Scotland, and came to New South Wales in the year 1841. The remains were buried in the Presbyterian portion of the Mudgee Cemetery, the Rev. T . J. Curtis officiating at the graveside. The deceased was a very worthy old gentleman, and had the respect and affection of all who knew him. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved.

Hi I recently created Ritchie-6081 and was not aware of RITCHIE-4968 until I went to add the wife Rebecca and realised there is a duplication.
If you agree please complete the merge but eliminate the capitalisation. (Typing names in capitals affects the search ability ie Entering Ritchie-4968 as an ID comes up blank at the present time) PS James Ritchie was born in Scotland and came to Aust age 5 - there is a note in his fathers (Ritchie-3050) bio
Cheers
I am again proposing the merge of Ritchie-6081 and the now Ritchie-6082.
Evidence has become available that verifies the James Ritchie that married Rebecca Comer was the James Ritchie that was born in Scotland.
Please refer to the death notice of James Ritchies published in the Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative (NSW) Thu 19 Aug 1915 [1] that states: ... His wife was a Miss Comer, of M'Donald's Creek.. and ...The deceased was a native of Paisley, Scotland, and came to New South Wales in the year 1841.
In addition, information has been provided by the Mudgee Historical Society that can be viewed at [2] that references the James Ritchie born in Scotland married Rebecca Comer.
In light of the above supporting information I would be grateful if you would now agree to the merge.
Cheers, Doug
