Obituary

Ferd. Rabel, 79, Lifelong Resident, Buried Wednesday

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael's Church for Ferdinand Rabel, 79, a lifelong resident of the Weimar area.

Burial was In St. Michael's Cemetery. Msgr. Anthony F. Drozd officiated, assisted by Rev. Guido Nuernberger.

Mr. Rabel, a retired farmer, died at 6:30 Monday morning at his home In the northern part of town. He had been ill awhile last fall, but for the past several months had been much better, and his death was quite unexpected.

Born in Fayette County near here Aug. 18, 1875, he was the son of Vinc and Magdalena Rabel. He married Miss Emilie Frietsch here In 1909, and they had four children, She died in 1920. In 1923 he married Miss Ludmilla Pauler at St. John's near Schulenburg, and nine children were born to this union. She died in 1949.

Mr. Rabel was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the C. K. of A.

Surviving him are three children of his first marriage, Steve and Henry Rabel and Mrs. Leo Hudec, all of Weimar; seven children of his second marriage, Mrs. Pete W. Huepers, Mrs. Ernest Kubesch, Miss Adery Rabel and Mrs. Leo Hudec, all of Weimar, Mrs. James Vecera of Schulenburg, Mrs. Albert Popp of Nada and Mrs. Bennie Liska of Hillje; 18 grandchildren; and a brother, Adolf Rabel of Weimar.

Pallbearers were Adolf Rabel Jr., Bennie Rerich, Ed Guenther, Fred Heger Jr., Julius Pauler and Herbert Pauler. Weimar Mercury, April 1, 1955, page 1
