At the time of writing no baptism record has been found for her despite extensive searches of the records of Inkpen, Kintbury, Shalbourne and many other surrounding parishes. From the age shown on her death certificate an estimate of 1823 has been made.
Her first husband, Thomas Clarke, was convicted of highway robbery on July 28, 1827 and sentenced to transportation for life, He arrived in Sydney on the Claudine on December 6, 1829.
By 1843 the Clarkes had separated and Lucy was living with John Wood.
