William was born on 01 June 1738 in Gloucestershire, the son of Robert Raikes and Mary Drew. He was baptised on 23 June 1738 at St Mary de Crypt, Gloucester. William was the second child to be born to Robert and Mary.
On 21 October 1762 WIlliam married Martha Pelly Mathew. Martha was the daughter of Job Mathew and Mary Pelly.
William's date of death is recorded as 15 October 1808 (yet to confirm).
