Biography

Louise was born around 1800 in St. Constant, Laprairie, Bas-Canada, aka Quebec. Her last name at birth was "Roman" (aka "Raineau") and her father was Joseph Roman, Sr.; as she had a brother Joseph Roman, Jr. Her mother was Marie-Angelique Circe, b: 20 Feb 1762 in Saint-Philippe, Laprairie, Québec.

On February 10, 1823, in the Roman Catholic church of St. Constant, Laprairie, Quebec, Louise married Charles Reaume, son of Jean-Baptiste Réaume, b: ca. 1768 in Quebec, and his wife, Marie-Louise Roque, b: ca. 1780 in Quebec. [1]

The couple lived in St. Constant, Laprairie, Quebec, and had the following children:[2]

  1. Joseph-Gedeon REAUME b: 16 Mar 1823 in Saint-Constant, Laprairie, Québec
  2. Marie-Louise REAUME b: 26 Jun 1825 in Saint-Constant, Laprairie, Québec
  3. Charles REAUME b: 29 May 1827 in Saint-Constant, Laprairie, Québec
  4. Marie-Louise REAUME b: 14 Apr 1830 in Saint-Constant, Laprairie, Québec
  5. Edouard REAUME b: in Saint Constant, Laprairie, Quebec.

On the 1842 Lower Canada (Bas-Canada) or Quebec Census, Charles Réaume is listed as Head of a Household of 8 persons living on a farm near St. Valentin, Huntington County, Lower-Canada. [3] He does not appear on later Census reports, leading to the conclusion that he passed away between 1842 and 1851.

However, it is likely that Louise (Roman) Reaume, did survive. On the 1861 Quebec Census, she is reported as "Louise Romeund," 61 years old, living in St-Jean-Chrysostôme, Châteauguay, Quebec, Canada. She died after 1861. [4]
