Biography

Alwilda was born in 1864. She passed away in 1950. A daughter of Thomas Austin Raines 1823–1909 and Mary Susan Smith Raines 1840–1930.

Married to Riley C. Shanklin on September 15, 1886 in Hinton, Summers County, West Virginia and had children Pearl May Shanklin Vaden, Finley H. Shanklin, Emma Shanklin Dixon, Elsie Mae Shanklin Thomas; and Earl A. Shanklin; remarried to James Mordecia Keatley on February 22, 1909 in Summers County, West Virginia

Riley was previously married to Virginia "Jenny" Wiseman on November 16, 1865 in Monroe County, West Virginia

Obituary: Post-Herald, Beckley, 19 Apr 1950, Wednesday Keatley Rites Set Thursday Hinton, April 18 - Final rites for Mrs Alwilda Keatley, former well known resident of Summers county, who died Sunday at Kokomo, Ind, will be conducted at the Ballard Baptist church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon...and burial will follow in the Ballard cemetery with grandsons serving as active pallbearers.

Mrs Keatley was 85 years of age, having been born in Monroe county May 27, 1864. A son and two daughters by her first marriage to Riley C Shanklin , survive her: Finley H Shanklin of Walton, Ky; Mrs Emma Dixon of Peru, Ind, and Mrs Elsie Thomas, of Kokomo, with whom she made her home.

Through her second marriage to J M Keatley, she is survived by two step-sons and six step-daughters: Wilson Keatley, Charlton Keatley, Lizzie Stennett, Clara Dove, Ada Gunnoe, Lessie Dickinson, Lowie Beckett, Nellie McClay and Orpha Campbell. A sister, Mrs Eliza Campbell of Rupert, and two brothers, Isaac and Oren Raines, and 13 grandchildren also survive her.

The body was removed from the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors to the home of L D Raines at Ballard.
