Biography
Son of Reuben C. Raines and Nancy Powell. John married Sophrania Thomas in Monmouth on 25 July 1879; she died in 1892. leaving a son Charles Arthur born in 1880 and an infant that died in 1884, John Oliver Raines then married Mary Caroline Clark, a first cousin of his late wife, on 4 July 1893. John and Mary were the parents of 11 children.
