Biography
William was born in the parish of Kinnell in 1734, youngest child of William Raitt and Margaret Gregg. He was baptised on 10 Feb 1734 at Kinnell.[1]
William grew up and continued to live in Muirside of Kinnell.
About 1758, William married Janet Leitch. They had six children:
- William b.abt.1759 possibly mar. (1) Martha Strachan and (2) Isabel Leisk
- Katherine b. 1761 possibly mar. John Fotheringham
- David b. 1763
- Francis b. 1765 [2]
- Jean b. 1768
- Agnes b. abt 1770 mar. James Renny
Latterly William lived in Kinnellsmill in 1799.
