A native apparently of Sixpenny Handley for which there are no registers pre-1731. He married at berwick St John, and after a brief stay at Handley, he and his wife and young family removed to Margaret Marsh by 1740. He died young and was buried at Handley.
He is recorded at the time of the marriage as being of Aston - possibly Aston farm in Alvediston.
Stephen and Alice had 4 children together before he died in 1748.
