Buried Crawfordjohn Churchyard, Crawfordjohn, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Occupation: Grocer, cloth & tea dealer.
• Archibald looks to have been the 1st born son, so may have been named after his paternal grandfather (Scottish naming pattern). On the 1851 census, Archibald RAMAGE appears in Wiston & Roberton Parish on census record No. 2 for that parish, in house #21 named Clydesbridgeuch (last 3 letters not clear on film). Residents are Archibald 63 = b. 1788, married, grocer and dealer in cloth, born in Crawford; wife Agnes 57 = b. 1794, married, born Crawfordjohn; Thomas 32 = b.1819, unmarried, occupation “ag. lab.” [agricultural laborer], born in Crawfordjohn. On the 13 Jun 1855 record of son Thomas’s marriage, Archibald’s occupation is given as “tea dealer”, and his wife’s maiden name as LAW. Found Archibald’s death data on the Lanark list run by RootsWeb.com in a 1999 entry of Lanarkshire graveyard lookups by a researcher in Scotland.
