FAMILY OF JACOB REMY, SON OF WILLIAM AND CATHERINE (ASBURY) REMY

JACOB REMY, b.abt.1698 in Westmoreland Co.,Va.,m.after 1726 Ann Carr, dau. of William and Sarah Carr of the same county. He died there in 1735-6. Ann Carr, b. ab.1700 and was the next to the youngest child of her father. Children – 4:
-CATHERINE, b. abt. 1728.
-JACOB, b. abt.1730, m.a dau.of Thomas Pritchard.[2] Children:
MARIE, b. abt. 1771, m.Wm.Connely in Richmond Co.,Va. Sep.21,1789, Daniel Connely, Security.
-JOSEPH, b.1731-2, m.Miss Edwards in Westmoreland Co.,Va. He moved to Surry Co.,N.C. and he d. in Surry Co.,Va. in 1814.
-JOHN, b. abt.1727, oldest, m.Mary and d.in 1741, No issue.[3]

Jacob died in 1735, two years before his father William died, and Jacob's heirs are named in his father's will:[4]

Remy, William, aged 65; 19 Nov. 1737; 30 May 1738. Son William; Jacob Remy's heirs; Asbury Remy; dau. Mary Saunders 1 shilling; to Katherine Wormoth 1 shilling; sons John, James and Daniel; wife Katherine use of plantation for life, and at her death to son Daniel; Elizabeth Sanders 1 feather bed when she marries.

from Westmoreland County, Virginia, Will Book 81, p. 239: “Will of Sarah Carr, widow of William Carr, dated Nov. 21, 1726, To dau. Elizabeth Bailey, my clothes, dau. Ann Carr my estate. Sarah Carr, relict of William Carr. Executrix, my dau. Ann Carr.”[1]

from Westmoreland County, Virginia, Order Book 1721-31: “Jacob Remey and wife Ann, one of the daughters of William Carr, deceased, March 31, 1731.”[1]

from Westmoreland County, Virginia, Order Book 1721-39: “Jacob Remey and wife Ann, petition Nov. 26, 1731, for a division of land devised by William Carr, the father of said Ann.”[1]

from Westmoreland County, Virginia, Order Book 1721-39, p. 197: “Ann Remey on May 25, 1736, Relict of Jacob Remey deceased, made Oath that said Jacob Remey deceased departed this life without Will. Administration of said estate grated to Ann.”[1]

from Westmoreland County, Virginia, Order Book 1721-39, p. 253: “William Remey the father of Jacob Remey, on Jan. 31, 1737, petitions to have the children of Ann Remey, the relict of Jacob Remey deceased, bound unto him.”[1]

from Westmoreland County, Virginia, Order Book 1721-39, p. 300: “Ann Remey, widow of Jacob Remey deceased, sues Catherine Remey and Asbury Remey, on Jan. 31, 1738; to answer petitions concerning the children of said Ann, who are under the care of said Catherine, Widow of William Remey.”[1]

from Westmoreland County, Virginia, Order Book 1721-39, p. 309: “Ann Remey, relict of Jacob Remey on March 29, 1739 petitions – her biggest children have been taken from her, particularly her daughter Catherine Remey, who is bound to Catherine Remey, the said child’s grandmother who is a very old woman, etc. – said child given back to her mother by Court Order.”[1]

from Will of Joseph Carr, Westmoreland County, Virginia, 12 Sep 1741: "To son Joseph 126 acres of land; son James land; dau. Mary Carr 2 Negroes; to sister Ann Remy's son Joseph Remy land whereon my sister lives."[5]
