William Ramsay, 5th Earl of Dalhousie succeeded his brother in 1696. He was Col. of the 3rd Regt. of Guards, sent to support Archduke Charles in his claim to the Kingdom of Spain. He was promoted to Brig. Gen. in Jan 1710, and he d. Oct 1710, in Spain.[1]
