Biography

James was born about 1784. On the 12th August 1816, he married Elizabeth Norris of Caledon, county Tyrone. [1]
Mr Ramsay was a wine merchant and assurance agent by trade.

October 31, of paralysis, at his residence, 11, North Cumberland-street, James Wilson Ramsay, late of Middle Abbey-street, wine merchant and assurance agent, aged 69 years. His remains will be removed for interment in Mount Jerome Cemetery, at half-past eight o’clock, on to-morrow (Thursday) morning.

He died on the 31st October 1853 in Dublin, aged sixty-nine years. [2] His body was buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery.[3]

  • Lorin Walker has researched the descendants of Richard Colles (d.1448, England) and Margaret Hall, through William Colles (1585–1621) of Doughill, Cloufinlough, and Lucie Lyons of Phillipstown, King’s County [county Offaly], to Richard Colles (1827–1868) and Mary Ramsay.[4]
