Biography

Ann Ramsay was born 1829 in Waterford Ireland . She arrived at Port Phillip, Victoria Australia as an assisted migrant onboard the Courier in September 1849. Her occupation was dressmaker. She was 20 years of age.[1]

Ann married George Frederick Mietzcke at the Church of England Melbourne in 1850.[2]

Ann passed away in 1878. [3]

Ann was interred at the Maldon Cemetery where a headstone was erected in 2004 by the descendants of Thomas Hokin [4]

Research Notes

Speculaltion:
Jane (Anderson) Collins Hokin disappears from the records after the birth of her son, Henry Hokin. George Frederick Mietzcke disappears from the records after the birth of his son, John Mietzcke.

In 1864 Thomas Hokin Mietzcke is born. His mother is Ann (Ramsay) Mietzcke. No father is recorded on the birth record. Anne has a further four children who are born Mietzcke but are later known as Hokin. Thomas Hokin was their father. For some reason Ann & Thomas were unable to marry. Therefore one or both of their spouses were still alive. No death record has been found for either Jane (Anderson) Collins Hokin or George Frederick Mietzcke. Submitted by Diane Darcy

Heather Radcliffe and I have been searching for Anne Ramsay's Parents from Waterford, Ireland.

Anne came to Australia on the Courier as an assisted passenger in Sep 1849. Very hard to find any information. Heather has been looking for many years.
