Burial: Thyatira Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Salisbury, Rowan County, NC, USA[3]
The Ramsay family immigrated in 1695 to Pennsylvania. They were of Scot-Irish ancestry. Scot-Irish Presbyterians immigrated to America through Philadelphia and by 1713 had settled in the Derry and Paxtang region of Lancaster (now Dauplin), Pennsylvania. Although some of these immigrates may have come directly from Scotland, most were "Ulstermen" that had moved from Scotland to Ireland during the 17th century. All were fleeing the persecution, religious wars and devastation rampant in both Scotland and Ireland. Robert's family removed to the Coddle Creek community Iredell County, North Carolina in 1766.
Robert Ramsey served as a Private in the Rowan County Regiment, North Carolina Militia, during the Revolutionary War. His brothers, David and John, also served in this unit.[4]
