Biography

Emily was born in 1899, the second child and eldest daughter of John Wesley and Mary Jane (Creech) Ramsey. In 1900, Emily's father, John was farming in Estill County, Kentucky. In 1910, John and Mary Jane had moved their family of five children (William, Emily, James, Robert, and Marcus) to Garrard County, and John was share-farming. The 1920 Census reveals that Emily's mother, Mary Jane, had died, and John had moved into his parents (William and Susan Ramsey)'s home in Estill County with his children, where he was farming with his father.

Emily married Bradley Clark in 1920. By 1930, they had five children: Fred, John Wesley "Wess", Nannie B., Rebecca, and Ray.
