Biography

William Marshall was born in 1840. His parents were John and Mary Ramsey.

In 1850 he was 10 and living with parents and siblings in Ohio. ^[1]

In 1860 he was 20 and living with his parents and siblings in Ohio. ^[2]

He married Mary Elizabeth Howell in 1861. ^{[3] [4]}

They had a son in 1870. Not sure if this is Charles. ^[5]

In 1880 they are living in Ohio with 10 children:

1. John G - born about 1862 in Ohio
   
2. Sarah B - born about 1864 in Ohio
   
3. Mary F - born about 1865 in Ohio
   
4. Nora A - born about 1867 in Ohio

In 1870 William and mary were living in Ohio with 5 children: John, Sarah, Mary, Nora and Vera. ^[10]

In 1880 William and Mary were living in Ohio with 10 children: John G, Sarah B, Mary F, Nora A, Vena May, Clara M, Charles W, Walter M, Samuel V and Harry M. ^[11]

Daughter Mary married in 1891. ^[12]

Son William married in 1901. ^[13]

His death date is unknown.

Research Notes

Downey-1809: My mother's research said: "His father's name was Robert Ramsey, born in England. His mother was Isabel Headly, born in England." but that is William H Ramsey (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X8VM-SNB). This is William Henry Ramsey, that married Mary E Corwin: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/MPGQ-WV6. According to Family Search and 1850/1860 census William M Marshall's father was John Ramsey and his mother was Mary Barr. Another fact that makes me believe this profile is correct as written is that in 1900 this couple's daughter Mary was a widow and her brother Charles and sister Bertha were living with her and her children. ^[14]
