Salem - My Joy was the quintessential wife, mother and friend that anyone could ask for. Even in school, where she received more valentines than most of the other girls, she was well liked. At Salem High School there was only one Song Queen- and guess who? After graduation, she received an academic scholarship to the prestigious Mills College and graduated with honors in three years so as not to be a financial burden to her family. Joy was amazingly talented as well as gorgeous. She was a ski instructor in Sun Valley and a pilot who had a floatplane rating and passed the instrument written exam.
She was a gourmet cook both in her kitchen, and if need be, in a dry camp. She was the inspirational founder of the "Candy Stripers" at Salem Hospital. On May 24 of this year, she celebrated the Big 90.
Joy abandoned life, as we understand it, quietly, quietly, and without premonition of death, simply by going to sleep. Since most of our remaining friends are "putting on 18," we are not far behind you ---
Goodnight Sweetheart, we love you!
Joe
