Hannah Marie Eleanor RANDOLPH was born about 1807 in Georgia[3] and died on 11 July 1858. Her mother is believed to have been Eleanor (HUNTER) RANDOLPH.

Hannah Marie Eleanor RANDOLPH was first married to Reverand James Cooper COZBY with which she had one son, James Smith COZBY.

James Cooper COZBY died on 27 November 1837. He was buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys, Camden County, Georgia.

Children of Reverand James Cooper COZBY and Hannah Marie Eleanor RANDOLPH:

  1. James Smith COZBY (Born: 1 September 1837; Died: 10 September 1894; Buried: Rosemont Cemetery, Newberry, Newberry County, South Carolina; Married: Mary LAW)[4]

Hannah Marie Eleanor RANDOLPH was probably married to Nathaniel VARNEDOE between 1840 and 1844 in Liberty County, Georgia.

Marriage Estimate

No Females were listed in any age bracket above the age of 20 years in the 1840 census record, based upon the age in the 1850 census record, Hannah would have been approximately 33 years of age and as such it does not appear that she was listed in her husband's household.
The 1850 Census Record of Liberty County, Georgia shows the children born after the 1840 census record as Mary E. VARNADOE (Age: 6 - Est. Birth: 1844) and Charles S. VARNADOE (Age: 5 - Est. Birth: 1845). If Hannah was their mother and the births were legitimate then the marriage should have taken place before the birth and possibly before the conception of Mary E. VARNADOE. This would mean that the latest that the marriage could have occurred was in 1844.
Nathaniel VARNEDOE's profile stated the following:
"After his wife, Ann, died on the 8th Feb. 1839, a year later, on 14 July 1840, Nathaniel married Hannah Marie Randolph Cozby, a widow with one son, James Smith Cozby. She was the widow of the Rev. James Cooper Cozby. Hannah’s sister was the wife of Dr. I.S.K.Axon, for 17 years the pastor of Midway Church. Dr. Axon’s granddaughter, Louise, was the first wife of Woodrow Wilson. Although J.S. Cozby was taken into the Varnedoe household, he kept his Cozby surname but is listed as a Varnedoe in some census records."
The Family of Leonard Vernadeau and Sarah Hutto, Three Generations Book stated:
"Ann Died 8 Feb. 1839. Nathaniel then married Mrs. Hannah M. Cosby, a widow with a son, James S. Cosby (b. 1837) on 14 July 1840. Nathaniel and Hannah had 3 children, Mary Ellen, Francis Elizabeth and Charles Stockton."

Children of Nathaniel VARNEDOE and Hannah Marie Eleanor RANDOLPH:

  1. Mary Ellen VARNEDOE (Born: About 1844 in Georgia)
  2. Francis Elizabeth VARNEDOE - not listed in the 1850 census record.
  3. Charles Stockton VARNEDOE (Born: About 1845 in Georgia)
