Biography

James (Randolph) Randall Jr lived in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

James (Randolph) Randall Jr was born about 1750 in North Carolina.[citation needed] He is the son of James Randolph.

James is named executor in his father James Randolph Sr's Will executed 15 June 1797 in Caswell County, North Carolina.[1]

On 20 December 1781, his father James Randolph of Caswell County, North Carolina, entered into indentures with his sons James, Robert, Abram, and William, selling or giving each of them land in Caswell County:[2][3][4][5]

  • James Randolph of CC to James Randolph Jun'r (his son), for 100 lbs, 90 acres in CC, on County Line Cr, bounded as follows: adj Abram Dunaway, William Hall, William Randolph. Wit: A'd Murphy, H. Harralson.

James Randall died before 21 February 1831, presumably in Pulaski County, Kentucky.[6]

Last Name

In his Will, James refers to his sons' last names as Randall otherwise called Randolphs. A codicil to his Will is signed James Randolph but he had earlier signed his own Will James Randall with his mark.[6]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

Randolph-2275 and Randolph-1464 appear to represent the same person because: same father (merge proposed), wife attached to Randolph-2275 is the mother of the children attached to the other profile
posted by Robin Lee
Thanks for suggesting a merge. We must be careful with merging as Mary Dye is not the mother of James Randolph’s oldest children (William, Robert, James, and Abraham) as he gave them land in Caswell County, North Carolina in 1881 about the same time he married Mary Dye.

We do not know who their mother is, although trees all over the internet have suggestions without sources or any type of documentation.

Randolph-1464 and Randolph-2275 do not represent the same person because: You have his 2nd wife listed as his mother, and have him as a Jr. need more documentation

Based on the Will, this is the same man as Randolph-1464. There is no documentation for him to be the son of Mary Dye (or any mother). James SR married Mary Dye in 1881 (if I remember correctly) at about the same time he is deeding land to his older sons, including this James. or for his wife to be Matilda (a name hasn't been located for her to date).
