Biography

Sarah, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Eppes) Randolph, married John Archer.^[1]

Elizabeth (Eppes) Randolph names her grandson John Archer, Sarah's son by John Archer, executor of her will, dated 30 April 1775.^[1]

Research Notes

Birth Date: 10 October 1715 appears to be from an online tree that does not note its source.^[2]

Death Date: Source need for 29 March 1774. That she died before 30 April 1775 is supported by her mother's will, which names Sarah's daughter as executor and only names two children - her son Grief and daughter Ann, who are thought to have been her only living children when she wrote her will.^[1]

Collier Barksdale: The same woman who married Collier Barksdale and was mother of his children (born c1741-1756, per Geni^[3]) cannot have then been the mother of John Archer's children (two of whom WikiTree shows were born 1740 & 1759).

• Collier Barksdale's profile cites an 1895 family genealogy, which says "We do not know who Collier Barksdale married".^[4]
• An abstract of Collier's will (on his profile) names "wife Sarah" and sons John, William and Nathan Barksdale; Lucy Barksdale and "daughter Allen" (apparently this is "Ally" mentioned in other sources, not a daughter who married an Allen). Also named are Collier's brothers "John and Hickson Barksdale"; witnesses were William Holt & Thomas Barksdale. No indication of Sarah's maiden name. Collier Barksdale's Charlotte County will, dated 1 July 1766, was proved "3 Oct 1774 & 7 Nov 1774"^[5]
