Indiana was born in Tennessee in 1851. She married Joshua Cagen Thomas in 1883 in Wright County, Missouri. She had two children with him, Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Jane. She died 8 September 1895 and is buried in Thomas Cemetery in Norwood, Missouri.[1]

Note how the two nephews have parents born in different locales than Indiana. Therefore, it is unlikely they are her brothers.
In the 1880 Census, she is enumerated next door to Aaron Raney, also born in Tennessee (TN). On the other side of her residence is the Benjamin Corder household. The wife, Ruth Raney, was also born in TN.
Daughter Sarah delayed birth registration lists her mother as India Rainey who was born in Alabama in 1848. Father listed as Cagen Joshua Thomas born in White County, Pennsylvania on 7 October 1839.[2]
