Biography
Mary was born in 1844. She was the daughter of Sandy Rankin and Mary Smaill. She passed away in 1899.
In 1851, the Rankin family lived at Burn Foot Cottage, Annandale, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. The family included Alexander Rankin, 41, a farmer of twelve acres, with no laborers; his wife Mary Ann, 40; their children, William, 17, a tailor’s apprentice; James, 15, a scholar; Thomas, 11, scholar; Alexander, 9, scholar; Mary Ann, 6, scholar; and John W., 3. All members of the household were born in Dumfriesshire. [1]
Mary was born about 1848. She passed away in 1899. [2]
