Biography

Frank was born on 10 August 1875 in Dumplin, Jefferson, Tennessee, United States. He was the son of Christopher Houston Rankin and Catherine Ruth Franklin.^[1]

In 1880 Frank (age about 4) was living in District 12, Jefferson, Tennessee, United States.

When Frank was 24 he married Lula Belle Sharp on 29 November 1899 in White Pine, Jefferson, Tennessee, United States. The couple had 9 children: Helen Kathleen Rankin, Beulah Belle Rankin, Grace Rankin, Ralph Everett Rankin, Frank Earle Rankin, Lynn Boyd Rankin, Ross Wayne Rankin, Roy Marshall Rankin and Stanley Lee Rankin

On the U. S. Census for 1920, he was 44, worked as a farmer and lived in the same place with his wife and 8 children. They were listed as Helen, 19, Bulah (Beulah), 17, Ralph, 14, (Frank) Earl, 12, Lynn, 11, Ross, 9, Ray, 2, and Stanley, 1. Again, all were born in Tennessee. In the 1930 Census, he was 54, farming and lived in the same place with his wife and 7 children. Beulah was 27, Ralph was 24, Earl was 22, Lynn was 21, Ron (Ross) was 18, Roy (Ray) was 12 and Stanley was 11. By the 1940 Census he and his wife were living in the same house with one son, Ray, and an 82-year-old Aunt, Hulda.

Frank married on 29 November 1899 Lula Belle Sharp in White Pine, Jefferson, Tennessee. His Draft Registration for the years 1917 - 1918 states he was tall and slender, with gray eyes and brown hair. On the U. S. Census for 1910, he was 34, worked as a farmer and lived with his family in Jefferson, Tennessee. His household included Lula B Rankin, Wife, age 29, Hellen K. Rankin, Daughter, age 9, Bula (Beulah) B. Rankin, Daughter, age 7, Ralph E Rankin, Son, age 4, Frank Earl Rankin, Son, age 2, and Tim (Lynn) B Rankin, Son, age 1. All were shown as born in Tennessee. A daughter, Grace, was born in 1904 and died as an infant. Frank Walter Rankin was born in 10 August 1875 in Jefferson, Tennessee to Christopher Houston Rankin (1851-1932) and Catherine Ruth Franklin (1852-1926). On the U. S. Census for 1880, he is 4 years old and lives at home in Jefferson, Tennessee with his father Houston, mother Catherine, and younger brother Charles.
