Biography

Jane was born in 1750. She passed away in 1830.

Michael Smoke's page on the Descendants of David Rankin, Sr. [1] claims the following. For sourcing he cites Brøderbund's Word Family Tree Vol. 3, Ed. 1. World Family Tree was entirely user-sourced so this information may be completely overridden if conflicting primary sources are found.

DAVID2 RANKIN, JR. was born 1726 in Ulster, Ireland, and died October 1795 in Cynthiana, Harrison County, Kentucky. He married HANNAH PROVINCE Abt. 1750 in Frederick County, Virginia, daughter of THOMAS PROVINCE and SARAH HACKNEY. She was born 1728 in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and died Aft. 1795 in Harrison County, Kentucky.

For primary sources, Michael Smoke cites the following as being from Harrison County, Kentucky (September 22, 1795). Will Book I p. 13:

"Being sick and weak in body". He left to son William the 200 acres of land whereon he now lives and also his young negro boy Harry. He also mentions wife Hannah, sons Thomas and David and daughters, Jenny Blackburn, Sarah Roberts, Hannah Morrison, Mary Rawlings and Letty Hays. Named executors were sons David and William.Witnesses were W, Moore, Thomas Rankin and Isaac Rankin.Written September 22, 1795, probated October of 1795.

He also cites LDS FHC Microsfiche #6049440 for the following:

1769 Moved to Washington Co., Pa. In 1790 the family moved to Harrison Co., Ky.

The following, also from Michael Smoke's site, may be from the World Family Tree source, with some backing from the will, above:

i. WILLIAM RANKIN, b. WFT Est. 1750-1773, Virginia.
ii. HANNAH RANKIN, b. Abt. 1750; d. 1846, Harrison Co., Kentucky; m. DOCTOR GAVIN MORRISON, M.D., Pennsylvania; b. Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jane by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jane:

Has anyone seen a primary source for her exact death date and place? I'm really curious because she had at least two grandchildren living in Randolph Twp. in Dearborn County, Indiana (became Ohio Co. IN. in 1844) when she is alleged to have died in Harrison Co. KY. This grave stone has to be one of their family members (only Blackburn family in this small area) and a son-in-law of Robert Blackburn was admin of her estate. The daughter attachment on Find a Grave is completely wrong, that is her g-grandchild. I'll get down there and unbury the date on the girls stone. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/151252794/jane-blackburn
