Biography

Harriet was born 15 October1831 in Brownville, Piscataquis, Maine, the daughter of James Rankin and Rebecca Crosby. [1] [2]

Harriet Fessenden Rankin was one of the thirteen children of James Rankin and Rebecca Crosby. Harriet married Levi Page, Jr. (1824-1863). They had three children: Lydia Rebecca, 1851-1898; Alma L., 1853-1917; and Edwin S., 1856-1877, who died one day before his 21st birthday. Harriet’s husband died in Virginia in service during the Civil War in 1863. Harriet died on 10 March 1883. [3]

Levi Page and Harriet F. Rankin were married on 3 January 1850 in Piscataquis County, Maine. William S. Serrall officiated. [4]

In 1850, the Page family lived in Brownville, Piscataquis County, Maine. Levi Page, Jr., 25, was a house carpenter, with $400 in real estate. His wife, Harriet was 18. They both were born in Maine, and had been married within the year. [5]

In 1860, the Page family lived in Searsport, Waldo, Maine. The family included

  • Lydia R. Page, 47, died in 1898, her father was a carpenter. [10]
  • Edwin Smith Page, born in 1856 in Brownville, Piscataquis, Maine. [11]

Harriet Fessenden (Rankin) Page, 1832-1883, died, aged 50. She is buried at Brownville Vilage Cemetery, Brownville, Maine with her husband Levi Page, Jr., daughter Lydia, and son, Edwin. Also buried there are her husband’s parents, two siblings, and other family. Levi Page, Jr., 1824-1863, died, aged 38, in Hampton, Virginia, in service during the Civil War. His grave stone is inscribed “He died for his country.” Harriet never remarried. [12]

Burial: Harriet F. Page (51), died on 10 March 1883, and is buried with her husband and their son at Brownville Village Cemetery, Brownville, Piscataquis, Maine.[13]
