The eldest son of Duncan (sometimes recorded as Dunkin) and Mary (Pearce) (Frost) Rankin he and Ann (Gray) Rankin had Hugh, Ezra, Archibald, Silas, Duncan, Randolph, Mary, Fannie and Lydia Ann Rankin

2) There is an Archibald Rankin recorded in the Nova Scotia 1872 Deaths Register where it is recorded Archibald died of consumption on May 11, 1872 in Argyle at age 84,He was recorded as married and listed as the son of Hugh and Mary Rankin. Ezra Rankin was listed as the informant.
