Biography

OBITUARY: Graveside services for Joyce Ann Shed, age 89 of Lexington, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in the Tobey Cemetery in Oakalla, Texas with Donna Crowel officiating.

Joyce, one of four children was born April 20, 1932 in Streetman, Texas to Fred Douglas and Lela (Sanders) Rankin. On May 5, 1951, she and Mabry Ray Shed were married in Prairie Dell, Texas. After settling in Lexington, she worked in the Lexington I.S.D. cafeteria as a cook for 10 years, retiring in 1994. After her retirement she devoted her time to Mabry until his death. She is a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church.

Joyce passed away Monday evening, August 9, 2021 in the Will-O-Bell Nursing Home in Bartlett. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Douglas and Lela Rankin; her husband Mabry on July 24, 2001; two sons, Jimmy on September 29, 1960 and Darrell on July 7, 2018; two brothers, Glen and Jimmie Rankin; sister, Doris Faye Rankin.

Surviving are her children, Douglas Shed and wife Nita of New Braunfels, Karen Baron and husband Joseph of Canyon Lake, David Shed and wife Teresa of Giddings along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
