William Franklin Rankins Sr. was born on December 25, 1895 in Watertown, Jefferson Co., New York. His parents were William H Rankins and Etta Marvin.[1] His education was 5th grade.
He married Myrtle Alice (Thornton) Ward on April 20th, 1912 in Harris, Texas, at the age of 16, She was age 14..[2] He was drafted into the Army for World War I, at age 22, on June 5, 1917.[3] He was Private in Company "I" 55th Inf. He departed from Hoboken N on August 3, 1918 for Europe, on the "Leviathan".[4] They divorced in about 1918 after 6 years of marriage. He was 23. They had two children during their marriage.
He married Dorothea Augusta "Dorthy" Conrady in 1919, in Harris Co., Texas.[7] They had two children. They made their home in Houston, Texas. In 1920 they were living at 2218 Gregg St. where he was a Mechanic on Automobiles.[8] They were living on Breckenridge St. in Houston in 1930 on that years Census, where He was a Mechanic on Automobiles. [9] By 1940 they were living at 1802 Campbell Street in Houston, Texas. He was a Night Watchman for a Cotton Compress. Their son William Jr was also in the household.[10][11]

They were living at 1204 Ryon Street in Houston in 1948, at that time he was a Maintance man for Gulf Atlantic Warehouse Co.
He died 1 Jun 1948 in Houston, Harris County, Texas[12] and was buried in the Rosewood Funeral Home and Cemetery.[13]
