Biography

Matthew Ransom was born about 1661. ^[1] He was the son of Robert Ransom who died on 14 December 1697 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.^[1]

He was a tanner by trade ^[2] He lived most of his life in Saybrook, Connecticut.^[1]

Robert married Hannah Jones on 7 March 1682.^[1][3] They had one child^[1][3]:

Joseph Ransom, born 10 Jan 1683, m. Jane

He owned property in a place called Julian’s Brook. His place was known as Oyster River Quarter^[4]

Matthew Ransom died prior to 1690 which is when Hannah Jones remarried.^[1]
