Margaret Ranson was born in about 1816 in Prescot, Lancashire. She is presumed to have been the daughter of James Ranson and Ann (Robinson) Ranson, who she was living with in 1841.
Margaret married Thomas Hall in 1840, at St Philip's Church in Liverpool, Lancashire.
Their daughter Ellen Hall was born in about 1840 in Lancashire, probably in Eccleston.
By June 6th 1841, they were living with Margaret's parents in Eccleston, Lancashire; her father was working as a publican, and her brothers John, Thomas and James were wheelwrights. Margaret's husband was an agricultural labourer.
Ellen may have died in infancy, because another Ellen Hall birth with mother's maiden name Ranson was registered in the last quarter of 1841 in Prescot district. However no death registration has been found for her in 1840-1, and the Ellen listed in the 1851 census for the family was aged 11, so it's likely but not certain there were two daughters named Ellen in this family.
