Biography

OBITUARY: Laura Catherine Rasmussen: Born August 26, 1988 in Albuquerque, NM to John and Janel (Faherty) Rasmussen. Died May 21, 2021. Laura is survived by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Kathleen Rasmussen; aunt, Kay Faherty; uncles, Steve, Dan, Terry, Randy, and Neil Faherty and Ross Rasmussen. Laura is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also survived by numerous friends across the US that she met while working many sporting events. Laura was preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Lucy Faherty, Clifford and Dorothy Rasmussen; and uncle, Tim Faherty.

Laura graduated from Cibola High School where she was an honor student. She furthered her education at the University of New Mexico, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science double major in Journalism and Mass Communications. She continued her education earning her Masters Degree in Public Relations and Marketing from Texas Christian University, graduating with honors.

Laura also completed internships with the Albuquerque Isotopes Baseball Team, LA Dodgers Baseball Team, and Cape Cod Summer Baseball League.

Laura held various position in Social Media, Communications, and Marketing during her career.

Laura was employed by Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation at the time of her death. Her career consisted of employment at Dion's Pizza, TCU Alumni Relations, State of New Mexico Department of Tourism, the Big 12 Conference, Albuquerque Isotopes Baseball, and Cold Stone Creamery. Laura was also a volunteer for Relay for Life, numerous NCAA Sporting events, as well as Super Bowl XLV.

Laura was a member of the National Honor Society.

Laura enjoyed sports. Baseball held a special place for Laura. She and her dad had a special bond over America's past time. She also enjoyed reading and, was an avid runner having completed a marathon in San Francisco and many half marathons, 10k and 5k races in New Mexico and Texas.

Laura had an infectious laugh, the kind that would make anyone laugh even if they didn't know the joke. She was the kind of friend who always made the effort; remembered birthdays, anniversaries, friends' children's birthdays, bought the best gifts and somehow managed to always be thinking of everyone at all times.
