Biography
She is said to be the daughter of Walter and his second wife, but is connected to his third wife.
Mary Raleigh married Hugh Snedale at St. Mary Arches Church on Oct. I3th, 1563[1][2]. Her daughter Margaret married William Sanderson sometime between 1580-1585. William stated this in a counter lawsuit againt Sir Walter Raleigh between 1611-1615 "That whereas your sayd subject aboute thirtie years sithence did marry and take to wiffe Margaret Snedall the daughter of Hughe Snedall and neece of Sr Walter Ralegh knight, that is to say, his sisters daughter"[3]. It is said that she is the Mary Snedale who married John Rowse in Exeter in 1579[4][5].
Mary and Hugh also had a daughter named Catherine who married Robert Hooker in Newton Abbott in 1586[6].
