Joseph (Rawling) Rawlings was born in England.

Joseph (Rawling) Rawlings has English ancestors.

My great x4 grandfather, Joseph Rawling (as per the baptism spelling, although his surname varied a lot), was baptised on the 27th December 1756 at St Ervan, Cornwall, the son of William Rawlyn/Rawling and Margaret Powell. He certainly named two of his children William and Margaret within the common naming pattern of that time which is supportive that the baptism was the correct one!

The banns of marriage between Joseph Rawlings and 'Mary Duke Levorton' were read on the 27th August, 3rd and 10th September 1780 at St Mawgan in Pydar. They were both recorded as being of that parish and they married there on the 29th September 1780. Joseph's baptism parish of St Ervan is only about six miles from St Mawgan in Pydar which, again, supports that baptism.

The couple had at least eight children baptised between 1780 and 1800. The oldest three children were baptised in Mawgan-in-Pydar in these baptism years: Mary (1782), Joseph (1784), and Margaret (1787). Their next five children were baptised in St Ervan in these years: William (1790), Ann (1793), Elizabeth (1795), John (1798) and Thomas (1800).

Joseph was buried (as Joseph Rawlings) on the 20th June 1830 at St Ervan, aged 74, as confirmed by the burial register which also states his residence was Trewinnick Lane, St Ervan. I couldn't find his gravestone in the churchyard but will keep looking ...

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:
