Biography

Services for Mrs. Mary Etta Rawlins Luther, 79, of Springhill, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, at the Bailey Mortuary Chapel in Springhill. Mr. Charles Bryce officiated. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery.

Mrs. Luther, a homemaker, and resident of Springhill since 1976, died Tuesday, June 18, 1987, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Springhill, after a lengthy illness. She was a former resident of Shreveport and Many. Mrs. Luther was a member of the Worldwide Church of God.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Herbert Luther of Springhill; three daughters and sons-in-law, Aline and Marion D. Edwards of Lafayette, Frances and Fred Thaxton of Springhill, Ruth and Elbert Bailey of Center, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Head of Oak Grove, and Mrs. Dorothy Rogers of Pine; one brother, J. D. Shaw of Many; eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
