William was born in October 1890.[1][2][3]
He was killed in action at Arras, in France on the 30th September 1917.[1][2][4] He was mentioned in dispatches for his service, see Research Notes below.
I've placed his service number in the suffix field for my reference.
There is a good biography for him in De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour.[2]
He enlisted in the British Army, attesting for the South Irish Horse in January 1915 aged 25.
