William Green Ray was Born to Green Berry Ray and Catherine Collins 27 Apr 1832, in Alabama.
He was married 30 Jan 1856 in Itawamba County, Mississippi to Nancy Virginia Drake.
For differentiation, there were three cousins each named William Green Ray: William Green Ray b abt 1824, son of Solomon Ray; William Green Ray b abt 1830 son of John Ray; and William Green Ray b abt 1832 son of Green Berry Ray.
The Ray family had spent time in Marion County, Alabama (where they were recorded in 1830) before moving on to Itawamba County, Mississippi. by the time of the 1840 Census. William Green Ray is recorded in Itawamba County, Mississippi in 1850. His wife Virginia is recorded with her family in Marion County Alabama in that year.
